Mulock House: A Historic Treasure Under Transformation - Councillor Kelly Broome
Exciting progress is underway at Mulock House as we breathe new life into this historic gem. The Mulock House Adaptive Re-Use project is all about preserving the past while making this space accessible for future generations to enjoy.
One of the key elements of this transformation is the restoration of the 100-year-old veranda, a place where visitors will soon be able to relax with a book and a cup of tea, take in the beauty of the Great Lawn, or gather for a special event.
The original wooden veranda, which has withstood over a century of weather and use, is being carefully reconstructed to maintain its historic character while incorporating modern safety standards. Thanks to the expertise of +VG Architects, the design remains true to the past, with enhancements that will allow public access to the upper level, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
This work is being done in accordance with the Ontario Heritage Act, ensuring that the legacy of Sir William Mulock and Lady Sarah is honored and preserved. As we move forward, this restoration will provide a welcoming and inspiring space for all to enjoy, whether for quiet reflection, community gatherings, or celebrating special moments.
Stay tuned for updates as we continue this incredible journey of bringing history to life!
