Kelly Broome is dedicated to improving the lives of those in Ward 6.

My family and I have lived in Newmarket since 1996 and are proud to call Newmarket my home. For 25 years my three children and I have enjoyed all that Newmarket has to offer and actively participate in the community events! We love to attend the Santa Clause parade, Canada Day celebrations, Remembrance Day and all of the holidays our amazing community gets together to celebrate for.

Since moving to Newmarket I immediately began volunteering in the community and working hard to support the local charities and events. I have volunteered with the Terry Fox Run and am now a proud 40 year Ambassador for the event. Additionally, I volunteer for the Women’s Centre of York Region, Newmarket Chamber of Commerce, Clearmeadow school council since 2007, Belinda’s place in 2012, the Ride for Southlake and more!

My proudest moment was when my Ward 6 neighbours chose me to represent them on the Newmarket Council in 2014. When I was elected I promised to instill community, charity, public service and bring results to the community. By living out the motto lead by example, I believe through the volunteer roles I continue to hold as well as the vast community involvement initiatives, we have together, accomplished bringing results and these values to the forefront in our community.

Since first elected I have worked with the residents of Ward 6 to identify our biggest community concerns, needs and wants. Together we were able to bring Newmarket’s first fully accessible splash pad, Ward 6 first volunteer community ice rink, and create a vibrant, safe community space that will also protect our environment and preserve the rich history, in Mulock farm. These are just 3 of the major accomplishments we have achieved together. To see more results both completed and coming soon to a neighborhood near you, visit the results map.

I am honoured to be elected by the residents in Ward 6 for the past 7 years and am excited to continue to work together for the residents and the community as a whole.
