Councillor Kelly Broome Council Meeting Update - 10/30/23
Town of Newmarket Council Meeting Update - 10/30/23
1. 2024 budget discussions continued, focusing on funding for construction projects and operating budgets for water, wastewater, stormwater, and building services. The town's social media has "budget bits and bites" and a contest for Choose Local gift cards.
2. Council supports creating 6,400 new housing units in Newmarket by 2031, including 1,250 for rent and 400 for non-profit/subsidized housing, considering water and wastewater concerns.
3. Local athlete Kevin Mills cycled 8,400km across Canada to promote activity-based therapy for people with disabilities. Given "Key to the City" for raising awareness about accessibility.
Ways to Join the Discussion and Get Involved!
All meetings of Committee of the Whole and Council are held as hybrid meetings. The public may attend these meetings in person in the Council Chambers at 395 Mulock Drive or via the live stream available at www.newmarket.ca/meetings.
By working together, sharing information, and ideas, and being engaged in our community we can achieve great things for Newmarket.
With Gratitude,
Kelly Broome
