Tree Stewardship Program at Mulock Park
Staying natural is a top priority for the park's growth. Our team of landscape and nature experts set up a Tree Care Program. We logged all tree types and their health as part of our plan. Our focus is on building a strong, long-lasting environment with healthy trees. We're cutting down bad trees and invasive ones, and selectively removing others to make room for the park features approved by the Council in the Master Plan, based on what the community wants."
Tree Stewardship Program Highlights:
For every tree cut down, three new trees will be planted.
Trees that can't be saved will be used for benches, landscaping, and ground cover, or returned to nature to enrich the ecology.
Some trees will be used to create a log amphitheater for storytelling or in public art.
New building sites are chosen to avoid harming trees or their roots.
New paths and access roads follow existing routes to protect tree roots from damage.
During construction, temporary tree protection fencing is required.
New plants will be used to re-naturalize forest areas.
Aging trees will be replaced with new native saplings as part of natural renewal.
Newly planted trees will be native species, providing habitats for local wildlife.
The tree plan aims to make a modern park that’s strong for the environment, where people can have fun and discover nature.
