Mulock Park Update: Here’s What You Need to Know (January 31 – April 15, 2025

Mulock Park in Motion: Spring Construction Update from Councillor Kelly Broome

🌿 What’s Happening Now – April 15, 2025

Spring has arrived, and with it comes renewed momentum on-site at Mulock Park!

Soil Removal in Progress – April 15 & 16
Crews are actively hauling soil off-site via Osler Court, Jordanray Boulevard, and Doubletree Boulevard, between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. To ensure safety and minimize disruptions:

  • Dump trucks are taking the shortest route possible to Mulock Drive.

  • Extra supervision is in place.

  • Streets are being continuously swept to reduce dust.

  • All roads remain open, with priority given to limiting traffic to Yonge Street and Mulock Drive.

Neighbourhood Update – Crane Operation on Osler Court – March 31
A mobile crane was positioned at the south end of Osler Court to hoist equipment into the Maintenance Building. Traffic barrels and signage kept the work zone secure, while resident access, including to community mailboxes, was maintained. Thanks to all for your patience with the short-term delays.

🏗 What Happened in February & March

Despite the cold, the site was bustling with activity. Here’s what was accomplished during the late winter months:

Mulock House Restoration Began

  • Foundation work is now underway.

  • Veranda reconstruction is scheduled for completion this spring.

Entry Bridge Excavation

  • Work began on the Entry Bridge at Yonge Street and Mulock Drive, creating a welcoming pedestrian entrance.

Interior Progress on New Buildings

  • Crews installed insulation, waterproofing, and critical mechanical/electrical systems.

Lighting for Yonge Street Parking Lot

  • Light installations began during the winter and will be fully operational this spring.

Artist’s Studio Taking Shape

  • The former stable is being transformed into a bright, inspiring artist’s studio. Salvaged original elements are being reused in the design.

Keeping Construction Moving During Winter

  • Temporary insulated enclosures and ‘frost fighter’ heaters allowed work to continue through the coldest months, while contractors worked to reduce generator noise for nearby residents.

Soil Movement – March 6–7

  • Soil was hauled off-site using the same traffic-safe methods as in April.

🔨 What Happened in January

As the new year began, foundational work laid the groundwork—literally—for what's taking shape today:

Site Fencing Installed

  • Separate zones were established for Mulock House and Mulock Park construction to maintain safety and organization.

New Buildings Began to Rise

  • Block walls went up on the Skate Pavilion, Maintenance Building, and Greenhouse Conservatory, paving the way for roofing and interior finishes.

Geothermal Heating & Cooling Prepped

  • A new wellfield was installed, ready to serve Mulock House with sustainable climate control.

Soil Movement Continued

  • Temporary soil piles were relocated around the site as needed.

Parking Lot Work at Yonge Street

  • Gravel and electrical ductwork were laid as the parking area began to take shape.

🌱 Sneak Peek: The Natural Discovery Playscape

While much of the progress is structural, something magical is also taking form behind the scenes: the Natural Discovery Playscape—a whimsical, inclusive space designed to spark imagination, creativity, and joy for visitors of all ages.
