In an effort to keep Newmarket’s taxes approximately 10 per cent below the GTA average, while ensuring the Town continues to deliver exceptional services, Newmarket is proposing a 1.99% tax rate increase for the 2022 draft Budget. This would mean an additional $44.09 per year for the average household (based on homes assessed at approximately $702,400).

A new policy requiring all Town of Newmarket staff, Council and committee members to be vaccinated was approved.

Everyone 12+ entering certain indoor public settings will be required to be fully vaccinated and provide proof of vaccination status in accordance with Public Health.
