Shining Hill Proposal Official Plan Amendment

The applicants are known as SHINING HILL ESTATES COLLECTION INC. 16250 YONGE ST. INC. EMILIO SACCUCCI CONCETTA SACCUCCI 2512606 ONTARIO INC and looking for an official plan amendment to further developed their lands. Newmarket Council will not be making any final decisions at this meeting taking place on Monday, January 18th, 2020.

To date under half of the area is already designated for development. The land being used in the first phase (Phase One) of the Shining Hill Estates project falls within this zone and was approved to begin construction back in March of 2018. The resulting homes from that development are already being sold.

There is a significant portion of the area is part of the Oak Ridges Moraine, protected from development. In 2003 Newmarket went a step further than required and designated most of the moraine lands as an environmental protection area, which has prevented new development there ever since.

The applicants are looking to amend the current designation Environmental Protection Area Oak Ridges Moraine and Stable Residential to Emerging Residential and Environmental Protection Area – Oak Ridge Moraine. Click here to view the notice
