NEWMARKET STORM ALERT April 15, 2018

Sunday, April 15, 2018 Storm Updates

Please be advised that all Town of Newmarket facilities, including the Newmarket Public Library, are closed on Sunday, April 15 due to continued inclement weather.

Town of Newmarket facilities will remain closed and all Town programs are cancelled.

The Town is aiming to resume regularly scheduled programming on Monday, April 16. Updates will be provided should this change.

Update 04/15/2018 1:40pm.

As this storm event continues, PWS are still in the process of completing a plow and salt application on all roads. Primary sidewalks have been completed once and another round has begun. Some parking lots and walkways have also been completed as staff continue to work on these areas as this update goes out. Plans are being discussed with the next steps regarding sidewalks, parking lots and walkways. At present estimated time for completion looks to be around 5:00 pm. With forecasted rain amounts in the 20-30mms for overnight, the priority will then be focussed on clearing of catch basins throughout the Town. Flooding may occur due to the amounts of precipitation and the residual corn snow that is on the roads. Staff will be scheduled and will work through the evening and overnight in order to lessen ponding issues and try to mitigate any extreme flooding. At present Town facilities are still closed and updates will follow as to when they will re-open.

The Town will continue to monitor the weather conditions and provide updates as necessary.
