The York District School Board has cancelled ALL permits for after school and this evening.

Town of Newmarket Public Works Update

Newmarket Public Works performed a sanding operation last night between 6 pm and 10 pm. Road patrol made the call at 4;15 am this morning as the high winds blew the snow in very quickly. PWS staff began sanding/plowing primaries around  5 am.  As we have seen the conditions in the past few hours have been dangerous for the public driving or walking. This has also impacted our availability to clear roads. Presently, PWS has our trucks in the different areas to clear primaries and will continue this into the evening hours.

At 10 pm an eleven plough truck response will begin a full ploughing operation and will continue during the overnight hours.  

We continue to monitor the weather.

Please advise residents to be patient and understanding during this weather event and cleanup, it will take time.
