Two Suspects Arrested And One Outstanding Following Armed Robbery
Ivestigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have laid charges against two teens and are seeking a third suspect following an armed robbery in the Town of Newmarket.
On Wednesday, September 7, 2016, police attended Pickering Crescent following a robbery. A 15-year-old female left a high school with two male friends and entered a wooded area nearby. She was approached by two female teens and an adult male suspect who were known to her. The male suspect pulled out a knife and a BB rifle and told the victim they were taking her bag. One of the female suspects was holding a knife while the other was holding what appeared to be a small handgun. The suspects grabbed the victim’s bag and threw her to the ground.
The victim received minor injuries. The two male teens with the victim were not injured.
The high school nearby was placed under a hold and secure at the time as a precaution while officers searched for the suspects. The two female suspects have been arrested and charged. The remaining suspect is a 20-year-old man of no fixed address. Police are urging him to consult with a lawyer and turn himself in.
