Playgrounds, Trails, Parks and Sports Fields

  • Clare Salisbury Parkette: All-new playground, basketball court, swings, bike rack and picnic table.

  • Jim Bond Park: Existing trails converted to asphalt, new benches, tri-waste containers and proposal for lighting approved. Included in the Mulock Property Mater Plan

  • Keffer Parkette: Replacement of play equipment, playground surfacing will be engineered wood fibre and depressions in concrete for for accessibility needs.
    - New stainless steel tri-waste units
    - Installation of larger swing set
    - Replacing existing pathways with wider asphalt
    - New park signs (with 911 address)
    - Climber and games board

  • Paul Semple Park: All-new playground, new wood fibre (replace sand), swing set, and trees.

  • Seneca Cook Parkette: All-new larger playground, new wood chips, picnic table, tri-waste, and trees.

  • Whipper Billy Watson Park: Completed - All-new playground, wood fibre (replace sand), existing trails to be converted to asphalt, accessibility ramp to be installed from the asphalt trail to the playground surfacing, installation of new park furniture around the playground, trails and ball diamond, basketball area to be resurfaced. 

  • George Luesby Park: Replacement of play equipment, playground surfacing will be engineered wood fibre and depressions in concrete for for accessibility needs.
    - New stainless steel tri-waste units to be installed 
    - Installation of swing sets
    - Replacing existing pathways with wider asphalt
    - New park signs (with 911 address)

  • Tom Taylor Trail: Connectivity and completion of new affordable recreation.

  • Mulock Drive Multi-use Path: East-west path will be designed to allow for a wide-range of recreational uses such as cycling, walking, jogging and wheelchair access. See video.

  • Margaret Arkinstall Park: Newmarket’s first fully accessible Spray Pad and Water Park nearing completion scheduled to be open by August 2021 or sooner. Includes a soft water play surface, spray, shade sails, site furniture, connecting pathways, and a picnic area surrounded by soft landscaping.- Giant strawberry with waterfall spray
    - Apple carousel with touch activators and sprayers
    - Two root vegetables
    - Two carrots (one spinning)
    - Barn gate with water wall
    - Ground-level pea pods with individual activator and sprayers

Heritage and Green Space Protection and Conservation

  • Mulock Property: Completed park design and master plan. #MyMulock
    The Town of Newmarket purchased the Mulock Property 11.6 acres in October 2018, acquiring a site with a remarkable history and potential to become a focal point where community life, recreation, culture, heritage and conservation collide in innovative and engaging ways. The property includes welcoming green space and a historic home, all in the centre of urban Newmarket at the northwest corner of Mulock Drive and Yonge Street.  Inline Council’s Strategic Priorities, Extraordinary Places and Spaces the Mulock Property has completed its full design and master plan.

  • Fitness Centre: Opened Newmarket's first town owned and operated fitness centre (Magna Fitness Centre).

  • Newmarket’s First Out Door Skate Park: Located at the Magna Centre, the outdoor skate park will include a variety of skate features to accommodate junior to advanced riders and provide learning opportunities to all users and age groups. In addition to the skatepark features, the proposed amenities include gathering areas, shade sails, picnic tables, benches, landscaping features, bike racks, and a water bottle fill station.Some main features include:
    - Junior area with a small quarter pipe, manual pad, flatbar and a bank to curb
    - Central sculptural turn-around quarter pipe
    - Five set with hubba and rail
